Science Inquiry Class
In order to stimulate students' interest in scientific exploration and enhance their observation and practical abilities, on April 15th, the students of Class 401 from Anqing Foreign Language School, under the guidance of teacher Wang Yuming, conducted a science exploration lesson with the theme of 'Understanding Several Common Types of Rocks'.
Specifically, the class began with an engaging scenario of a 'geological exploration team', during which the children transformed into little geologists and conducted four in-depth exploration activities: touching, observing, scratching, and dripping. Through these activities, they carefully observed the color, grain, hardness, and chemical reactions of granite, sandstone, and marble. Meanwhile, during the hands-on experiments, students cooperated, exchanged ideas, and recorded their findings, who easily grasped the characteristics of rocks and directly experienced the mysteries of science.
Furthermore, Wang Yumeng ingeniously employed mnemonic rhymes and matching of practical uses in daily life to make knowledge more comprehensible and the class more lively. Thus, the entire lesson was brimming with the joy of exploration, which not only cultivated students' scientific literacy and safety awareness, but also enabled them to appreciate the close connection between rock resources and life, fostering an awareness of protecting natural resources.
On the whole, this science class combined fun with practicality, allowing students to learn by doing and understand through exploration, thus fully demonstrating the vitality and brilliance of our school's science classroom teaching of the Primary School Department.
